On the afternoon of the 27th December we started the move into the new shop by first doing a stocktake and packing all the goods into boxes. Thursday 28th and Friday 29th were spent moving everything, which included taking the shelving apart and reassembling it in the new shop. The skills and imagination of our volunteers meant that no sooner was a problem identified than someone came up with a way to solve it. Graham Cooper, our carpenter, did sterling work as did Kevin Goodchild and his men who moved the freezers and chillers. We finished off the move on Saturday 30th and also held two ‘orientation’ sessions for all our volunteers. Here are some of them gathering in the new Community Cafe area of the shop.
And on New Year’s Eve, we were busy getting everything ready for our opening on January 2nd.
All we need now are the cakes to sell in the new cafe! And look at the lovely counters, made by Steve Lock, one of the many talented people in our village.
