We stock a good range of pulses, grains, nuts and other whole food items which we are fortunate to be able to sell at the same price as our supplier, the Wholefood Store in Manningtree. This is what they say about themselves:
“Our ambition at The Wholefood Store has always been to seek out the highest quality food from local and international sources. Our passion is food, and we feel most passionate about food that is simple and unadulterated. We steer away from artificial additives, sweeteners, colourings, preservatives and hydrogenated fat. We are committed to selling good food that is ethically sourced, natural, GM free, organic and fair-trade.”
We also order from the Suma Wholefood Co-operative. This is a workers’ co-operative which is owned and managed by all their staff. This is what they say about what they supply:
“All our products are diligently sourced; all are vegetarian and where eggs are an ingredient, they are free-range. We stock organic versions of everything we can, support fair-trade as a licensee of the Fairtrade Foundation and all our bodycare, cosmetic and household products are cruelty-free.”
We also source some vegetarian, gluten-free, dairy-free and/or whole foods from supermarkets, when we can get a good price on them. This includes vegetarian and gluten-free frozen meals – have a look in the freezer cabinet! We are always willing to respond to special requests.
